Cadaqués, located in Catalonia a few kilometers from the border with France, is a small Mediterranean town on the northeastern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. It is within the Cap de Creus natural park with important geological, natural and cultural value. The history of Cadaqués is very old and intersects with the rise and fall of many different Mediterranean civilizations. For centuries it was isolated from the land by the last mountains of the Pyrenees mountain range. These mountains continue to protected the village from passing traffic and due to its isolation and raw beauty it has been the adopted home of numerous artists including Dali, Duchamp and Hamilton among many others. Built on rocks facing the sea Cadaqués comprises of whitewashed fishermen's houses and modernist mediterranean architecture, surrounded by nature.
